home
Home is where someone lives. It is a place of comfort, family, and return. People say "take me home" or "make yourself at home" to mean safety and belonging.
What a model may hear
- home directory Unix, Linux, macOS
- Assume the user's personal folder, often /home/username or ~, and may look for config files or write output there
- home page web browsers and HTTP
- Treat it as the default landing page of a site, or the start page a browser opens to
- home position robotics, CNC, 3D printing
- Interpret as a calibrated zero or origin point that a machine returns to before or after operations
- home key keyboards and text editing
- Move the cursor to the start of a line, which may disrupt expected text placement
- home network networking and IoT
- Assume a private LAN, often with a non-routable IP range like 192.168.x.x, and may apply different security rules
Where people and models part ways

May be taken as: Change the home directory, browser homepage, or machine origin point
Say instead: “Save this location as a favorite or default in [specific app]”
“Home is where the heart is”
Meant: A sentimental proverb about love and belonging
May be taken as: Parse as a configuration rule or search for a file path containing 'heart'
Say instead: “Explain the meaning of the saying 'home is where the heart is'”
“I want to work from home”
Meant: Remote work from my residence
May be taken as: Assume the user wants to use a home directory or home network configuration for a work task
Say instead: “I want to do my job remotely from my residence”
Tips
- Say 'my house' or 'my residence' if you mean the physical building, not a folder or page
- Specify 'home directory' or 'home folder' when you mean the file system path
- Say 'homepage' as one word if you mean a website's main page
- Add 'on my keyboard' if you mean the Home key
- Say 'origin point' or 'zero position' for machine calibration, not 'home'
